Have you ever wondered: 

How can a 400,000-kilogram airplane fly through the air? 
How do scientists solve a murder by analyzing clues at a crime scene? 
How have devices such as the cell phone and the computer transformed the way we communicate? 
How are BC’s natural resources extracted, processed and used? Science and Technology 11 resource answers these questions and more. This course is based on the Ministry of Education’s Science and Technology 11 IRP.

In this course students will develop an understanding of the connection between science and technology, and how they impact society and the environment. The thought-provoking topics and engaging multimedia will capture students’ imaginations, hold their attention, and arouse an interest in the study of science and technology.

Use the Moodle course booklets as a primary resource. There is also a companion website to complement the course.

    • This course does not require a textbook or workbook, and no textbook deposit is needed (all material is available online). 


This course is divided into four modules (13 Units), with assignments, projects, quizzes, and two exams. Marks are assigned as follows:

Achievement is assessed as a measure of achievement relative to Ministry prescribed learning outcomes. These can be viewed by clicking the link.  

Curriculum may be viewed within the Ministry of Education Integrated Resource Package.

Delivery and Support:

This course can only be done online. Teacher and leaners work together in Moodle. The course is self-paced. Learners may start any time.


Students may use the Moodle messaging system, email, Blackboard Collaborate video-conferencing, Skype or the phone. Learners are encouraged to initiate communication.

Additional Software:

Adobe Reader, full Flash and Java support, an office suite, ability to play audio and video files
